Noticing Gift Usage
In Werewolf, there are gifts that have obvious signs of their usage and activation. For instance, gifts such as Razor Claws, Lambent Flame, Spirit of the Bird, Luna's Armor, etc. have a tangible, visible effect. However, there are other gifts that don't carry these hallmarks of obvious perception. In the interest of keeping things interesting from an IC perspective, a roll is being implemented to make sure that any knowledge of gifts being used that aren't obvious is rolled for.
Simply put, to know whether or not a character is using a gift in their action, you roll Perception+Occult, DC 5+the level of the gift being used. 1 success indicates that there is a gift in effect, more successes will grant you more details about the gift's effects.
Character Death vs. Retirement
If your character died: You may make a new character at your earned rank, and are entitled to use half of your unspent XP, rounded up, towards your new character.
If you retire your character: You must make a cliath or fostern, but you are entitled to use half of your unspent XP.
Rites
Rites are a cascading system, Like magic from D&D. Use the following chart:
1 point in Rites background: 3 Minor rites and 3 Rank 1 Rites
2 points in Rites background: +1 Minor Rite; +1 Rank 1 Rite; +1 Rank 2 Rite
3 points in Rites background: +1 Minor rite; +1 Rank 1 Rite; +1 Rank 2 Rite; +1 Rank 3 Rite
4 points in Rites background: +1 Minor rite; +1 Rank 1 Rite; +1 Rank 2 Rite; +1 Rank 3 Rite; +1 Rank 4 Rite
5 points in Rites background: +1 Minor rite; +1 Rank 1 Rite; +1 Rank 2 Rite; +1 Rank 3 Rite; +1 Rank 4 Rite; +1 Rank 5 Rite
Note: A new character starting with Rites that are ranked above their current rank may have difficulty in performing them, or may not be able to perform them at all without assistance from an appropriately ranked Garou.
