For those who are experienced with IRC and connecting to servers, we have included some quick instructions below:
Server: Darkmyst
Main Rooms
#Broken_Sky_OOC for the Out of Character room and general chat.
#Broken_Sky for the main RP Room
#Broken_Sky_Dice for the dice room
For Players that have never used IRC Before
IRC, or Internet Relay Chat, is a chat network that has been around for decades, and is quite easy to use. We use IRC instead of Discord for RP, as IRC does not log messages for everyone to read while they are logged out. This helps characters retain their secrets until found out, to be able to work together on clandestine plans or actions, and the like without fear of another player, who was not present at the time ICly, from knowing this OOCly. However, we do have a Discord for OOC chat purposes and hanging out, as well as the IRC rooms.

Now, onto the topic at hand. How do you get onto IRC? First, you will need to decide which client you wish to use to access the network. There are multiple programs out there, but we have found that the simplest way for a new player to get onto irc is by using IRCCloud. IRCCloud is a free to use, browser based client that is accessible and easy. Cloud saves all of your chatlogs to your account, so that you have access to them in perpetuity.
Joining the Darkmyst Network
Once you have created an account, the first thing you will need to do is add a network. For our game, we will be using the Darkmyst server. Any client you choose will ask you for the network address, and all you need to put in that field is irc.darkmyst.org . Once you've done that, you choose a display name, which can be changed at anytime, and then join our channels.
Joining Channels
To join our channels, a simple command entered into the text box will get you connected to the rooms. You do not have to re-enter these commands every time you login if you use IRCCloud, while other clients do not save your preferences for rooms.
Command: /j #Broken_Sky_OOC
It's that simple! We look forward to seeing you on IRC!
